Balti On The Beach

RE:EVENTS were invite to pitch for the Birmingham event in November 2007. The briefing document outlined the previous years event details, feedback from that event and requirements for the 2008 event. The event needed to be in a prominent location in Cannes, consist of two parts - firstly for key invited guests and the second for a more general audience. The budget was fixed and pitches not meeting this would not be considered.

Following the success of Balti on the beach 2007, RE:EVENTS based its submission around this theme whilst splitting the evening into two parts.

Part one was a Gala Dinner for 250 guests which included an Interactive Pub Quiz hosted by Garry Newbon, Trevor Francis and Andy Gray.

RE:EVENTS opted the Plage Royale Beach Marquee, one of Cannes most sort after beach restaurants located on the Croisette. The marquee was branded throughout as Balti on the Beach, plasma screens around the marquee displayed the partners logos and key facts about them at relevant points during the evening and the guests enjoyed a traditional balti, starting with the usual poppadums & pickles, followed by a traditional dessert.

The Birmingham Interactive Pub Quiz saw the tables competing against each other to win a range of Birmingham centric prizes by answers questions about

Birmingham and MIPIM though the use of their interactive controllers.

The second part of the evening was a disco and buffet for over 800 guests. With this amount of guests the audience recruitment for the second part of the evening was paramount. RE:EVENTS utilised email marketing and a registration site for this process.

The DJ for the night was BRMB's headline DJ and Birmingham born Tammy Gooding who got the crowd on their feet with a mix of modern hits and classic disco numbers. Guests sampled a taste of Balti with mini portions of curry and nan-bread offered.
